David Schelkoph, city administrator for Valley City, N.D., has been appointed to complete the term of Norris Severtson of Lakota, N.D., on the Missouri River Energy Services (MRES) Board of Directors. Severtson announced his retirement from the Board effective July 1.

Schelkoph has served as Valley City’s administrator for more than six years. Prior to that, he worked at Killdeer Mountain Manufacturing in Dickinson, N.D. He also has served in the U.S. Air Force and Air National Guard.

Schelkoph holds a bachelor’s degree in engineering from North Dakota State University, and has previous administrative experience with an electric cooperative.

MRES is an organization of 61 member municipalities in the states of Iowa, Minnesota, North Dakota, and South Dakota. Each member owns and operates a local electric utility and purchases wholesale electric energy from MRES. Members also are able to benefit from a wide variety of energy-related programs services provided by MRES.

Board members of MRES are elected by and from the ranks of official representatives of the member cities. The Board is made up of 13 of those representatives.
