More than 600 public power leaders arrived in Washington, DC in late February to talk to members of Congress about the impacts federal legislation could have on their local public power utilities. MRES member and associate communities met with their congressional delegation and discussed opposition to the sell-off of the Power Marketing Administrations and related transmission assets, opposition to unreasonable or unfunded pole attachment mandates, fixing the unintended consequences to advanced refunding of tax-exempt municipal bonds, and reforming the Public Utilities Regulatory Policies Act Reform (PURPA).

As the pictures below show, there were representatives of several member and associate communities, including:  Alexandria, Benson, Denison, Detroit Lakes, Glencoe, Marshall, Moorhead, Pierre, Rock Rapids, Sioux Center, Sleepy Eye, Valley City, Vermillion, Willmar, and Windom.
