ALP Utilities in Alexandria, Minnesota, presented the City of Alexandria with a $9,682.50 rebate this spring for energy‑efficient improvements completed as part of the Prime West Health Runestone Community Center’s (PWH RCC) multi‑phase expansion project. The upgrades included high‑efficiency LED lighting throughout the renovated spaces and the installation of new HVAC equipment, including an energy recovery ventilator designed to improve indoor air quality while reducing overall electrical load.

The lighting improvements deliver brighter, more uniform illumination across the expanded lobby, locker rooms and meeting areas with high‑efficiency LED fixtures that support lower operating costs across the new spaces. The new HVAC systems — including the energy recovery ventilator — help maintain comfortable conditions year‑round by capturing and reusing energy that would otherwise be lost through ventilation. Together, these measures support both operational efficiency and long‑term cost savings for the facility.

The project is expected to deliver a demand reduction of more than 27 kW and annual energy savings of 30,376 kWh, helping lower utility costs while supporting the community center’s commitment to responsible energy management.

“It’s been great to work with ALP Utilities and Missouri River Energy Services (MRES) on these upgrades. Not only are we improving the space for the community, but the rebate helps us save on long-term energy costs, which is a win for everyone,” said Vinnie Hennen, manager of PWH RCC.
