Minnesota municipal utility representatives gathered in St. Paul on April 11 and 12 to meet with members of the Minnesota legislature to educate them on issues of concern to municipal electric utilities. The key messages for the meetings included Preserving the Regulatory Compact, Preserving Local Regulation of Municipal Utilities, reforming the Conservation Improvement Program, and the Importance of Municipal Utilities.

The meetings included an April 11 legislative reception which included legislators representing MRES member and associate communities such as:  Rep. Paul Marquart (DFL-Dilworth), Rep. Mary Franson (R-Alexandria), Rep. Chris Swedzinski (R-Ghent), and Rep. Joe Schomacker (R-Luverne).  MRES member and associate communities that were represented at the Capitol were:  Alexandria, Blue Earth, Delano, Detroit Lakes, Glencoe, Marshall, Moorhead, Redwood Falls, Sauk Centre, Sleepy Eye, Springfield, Willmar, and Worthington.
