Generating Resources
|
Missouri River Energy Services has a generation mix that helps members maintain retail electric rates that are among the lowest in the nation. Our members have allocations of hydroelectricity from the Western Area Power Administration, accounting for about half of their power needs.
Other resources include 281 megawatts of power from the coal-fired Laramie River Station, one of the nation's most efficient power plants; 140 megawatts from the Exira Station, a combustion turbine; and 48.75 megawatts from the Watertown Power Plant, also a combustion turbine. Additional generation is provided from wind resources (82.4 megawatts) and from smaller generating units that are located, owned, operated, and maintained by member utilities.
MRES and its members are bringing low-cost, reliable electric energy to consumers while protecting our land, air, water, and habitat. View some of the many ways MRES is doing this by going to our Environment page.
