The Missouri River Energy Services (MRES) 60 member communities in the states of Iowa, Minnesota, North Dakota, and South Dakota look to MRES for a wide range of energy and customer services.
Each member owns and operates its local electric utility, and citizens in each community determine how their utility is operated. The citizens are, in effect, the stockholders of the electric utility that serves them.
Since 1965, the members of MRES have been working together to ensure themselves of a reliable, low-cost electric supply.
Each of the members has a voice in how MRES operates. Governing bodies in each member community delegate an official representative to MRES and the representatives elect a Board of Directors from their ranks.
MRES is headquartered in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, where a staff of dedicated professionals conducts the organization's day-to-day business.
Today's complex world requires a utility to provide much more than electricity to keep lights on and machines running. MRES is meeting its members' needs by providing a variety of services to help them remain competitive.
