MRES scholarships open to high school seniors
High school seniors who are customers of Missouri River Energy Services' member utilities are encouraged to apply for $1,000 scholarships provided by MRES. Ten scholarships will be awarded. The program opens January 15, and the deadline for students to submit applications is March 15.
Students are required to enroll in a full-time undergraduate course of study at an accredited two-year or four-year college or vocational-technical school no later than the fall of 2010.
Awards are renewable for up to three additional years for students who meet academic performance requirements.
An independent scholarship management firm administers the program. Academic achievement accounts for 50 percent of the selection criteria. The remainder is based on a combination of factors, including work experiences, activities, awards and honors, career goals and plans, and unusual circumstances such as hardships. Students who plan to pursue electric industry-related fields of study are given some preference.
Information about the MRES Scholarship Program is available below, or at each eligible high school in MRES member communities.
Please note that the Scholarship Application may be filled out online, but it must be mailed to Missouri River Energy Services Scholarship Program, Scholarship Management Services, One Scholarship Way, PO Box 297, Saint Peter, MN 56082. The application form and other required materials must be postmarked by March 15.
Scholarship winners will be notified in early June.
MRES is an organization of 60 member communities in the states of Iowa, Minnesota, North Dakota, and South Dakota. Each member owns and operates a local electric distribution system. |
